Life Events

We are all at different stages in our lives and on our faith journeys.  You may be celebrating, you may be grieving, but wherever you are, we will meet you there.  The pastoral ministries listed here are ways that the clergy and community can care for and support you. To learn more, please contact the Rev. Carrie Irwin directly, or through the church office.

Baptism

Through baptism a person is made a child of God, becomes a member of Christ’s Body, and is cleansed and reborn in the Spirit.  Adults and children are baptized, in the belief that God’s love extends to everyone, regardless of their age.  Adult candidates and the parents or guardians of child candidates for baptism must participate in a series of meetings with a member of the Clergy to prepare for this life-changing sacrament. Usually the whole community witnesses the baptism, and also makes promises to support the child or adult as they join the family of Christ.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an exciting step in our faith journey as Christians. It is a process of asking questions, delving deeper into scripture and worship, and growing into a stronger relationship with God and our Church. It is a time to consider what has come before, and what possibilities are ahead. Confirmation is a sacrament, taking on the Baptismal Covenant as your own promise to God, and being welcomed as an adult member of the faith community. Classes will run as needed so please contact the Church office for more information.

Wedding

Congratulations on your engagement! We will be honoured to help you celebrate your special day. If you would like to meet with a member of the clergy to talk about getting married, you would be most welcome to make an appointment.

Funeral

As described in The Book of Common Prayer, “The liturgy of the dead is an Easter liturgy.  It finds all meaning in the resurrection.  Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we too, shall be raised.”  In this sense, a funeral service can be a source of comfort to grieving families and friends.  Our Clergy will support and assist the bereaved as they plan the funeral of a loved one.
Parishioners are welcome to pre-plan their own funeral so that the service will reflect their wishes, including prayers, readings and music.
